Africa Programme

After a change of leadership in October 2003, CCR outlined a new pan-African vision for the organisation's Africa Project that built on the successes of the previous Africa Programme (1996-2003), and has established the Centre as the leading think tank on the continent.

The overall goal of its Africa Programme is to contribute towards a just and sustainable peace in Africa.

Specifically, the programme aims to strengthen the capacity of African institutions and actors constructively to manage conflicts in their own regions.

By providing a neutral platform for diverse African actors, CCR also seeks to influence, positively and critically, policy and academic debates on African security and governance issues.

The Africa Programme is built around two synergistic pillars: the Conflict Intervention and Peacebuilding Support Project; and the Policy Development and Research Project.

The overall theme of the 2008-2012 phase of CCR's Africa Programme is Peacebuilding in Africa.
