INVITATION CONFLICT RESOLUTION PRACTIONERS
The Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCR) is an independent non-governmental organization affiliated to the University of Cape Town. CCR conducts mediation, training and policy research on security in Africa. CCR invites applicants to join the Resource Panel in the Mediation and Training Services (MTS) Project for a 12-month period for ad hoc assignments in the greater Cape Town area and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
CCR invites practitioners to join our resource panel of independent trainers and interveners
The specific objectives of the MTS Project in South Africa and the SADC region are as follows:
- To contribute to building conflict resolution capacity in government departments in the Western Cape and designing alternative dispute resolution systems;
- To provide direct independent third-party mediation in community political conflict;
- To establish and maintain partnerships with the Western Cape local and provincial government;
- To provide conflict transformation skills towards constructive dialogue between government and civil society in selected SADC countries.
Trainers [Ref: MTS01] Key Requirements:
- Awareness of the field of conflict resolution and peace education;
- 3-5 years relevant training / facilitation experience in conflict resolution and peace education;
- Sound knowledge of conflict resolution and the ability to communicate and impart conflict resolution knowledge and skills;
- Ability to plan, design and facilitate workshop programmes based on experiential learning methodologies;
- Excellent report writing skills;
- Seta accredited facilitator, assessor and/or moderator or willing to complete this process.
Third Party Interveners [Ref: MTS02] Key Requirements:
- Knowledge of the political, social, cultural and economic dynamics in South Africa and SADC;
- 3-5 years relevant experience in independent third party interventions;
- Ability to demonstrate impartiality and independence with confidence in complex multi-party conflict;
- Ability to apply analytical frameworks during multi-party interventions;
- Assist with planning and designing third party interventions;
- Excellent report writing skills.
